Hosmer High-Rise
The Mary Hosmer High-Rise contains 120 apartments in a fifteen
(15) story building located at 601 N. Walnut Avenue, near downtown Freeport. There are 119 one-bedroom units and 1 two-bedroom unit. A total of 5 units are handicap accessible. There are 3’ x 3’ storage units for rent. Management is onsite during regular business hours. The common areas of the hallways, community room, entryway, and basement level were renovated in 2010. There is a large community room with a kitchen on the first floor. A laundry room is on the basement level with coin-operated washers and dryers. Residents work together to beautify the property with flowers and landscaping. Every Hosmer apartment received a new Energy Star refrigerator and PTHP window unit to provide supplement heat and air conditioning as of May 2011; both were results of an Energy Efficiency Grant awarded. There is a computer lab available for training and open lab for residents and the general public as a result of the recent Building the Digital Divide grant received.
