Brewster High-Rise

The Brewster High-Rise contains 59 apartments in a nine (9) story building located at 1050 W. Galena Avenue.  There are 27 efficiency units,  29 one-bedroom units and  3  two-bedroom units.  There are a total of 3 one-bedroom handicap accessible units.  Management is onsite at least two days weekly during regular business hours.  The common areas of the hallways, community room, entryway, and basement level were renovated in 2010.  There is a community room with a kitchen on the first floor.  On the second floor, there is a laundry-room with coin-operated washers and dryers.  Residents work together to start, maintain, and harvest a community garden on the property.  Every Brewster apartment received a new Energy Star refrigerator and PTHP window unit to provide supplement heat and air conditioning as of May 2011; both were results of an Energy Efficiency Grant awarded.  There is a computer lab available for training and open lab for residents and the general public as a result of the recent Building the Digital Divide grant received.
